Heartland Hosts & Services: Enhance your group's experience by utilizing the Council Bluffs Convention & Visitors Bureau's Heartland Host program. Heartland Hosts play a vital role in our community as friendly, skilled tourism ambassadors. Whether you are looking for a step-on guide to enhance your tour, historic re-enactors to add spice to your dining experience or a specialized guest speaker, you'll find it in the Heartland Hosts.
Heartland Hosts must complete the following certification procedure:
- Attend a 4-week certification course that includes area history, presentation techniques & customer service.
- Complete a 3-minute presentation that is evaluated by both classmates and CVB staff.
- Apprentice guides observe lead guides in action.
- Lead guides accompany apprentice guides until the apprentice is certified.
CVB Heartland Host Services
Step-on Guides
Heartland Hosts are available as step-on guides or to welcome your group upon arrival. Over 10 specialized tours are available - conducted by trained guides.
- Navigators available (at no charge) to direct driver when seating available.
- Heartland Host Fee: $30 per hour
- All day tour (8 hrs): $160
- Minimum tour time: 2 hours
Driving Itinerary
The CVB would be pleased to design an itinerary based on your group's interests and schedule.
- Groups staying minimum of two nights: Complimentary
- Groups staying one night: $10
- Groups on day tour: $15
- Travel Agent - $25
