“I have lived and worked in the Omaha, Council Bluffs area for the past 10 and have been an independent planner for 5 years. In the Spring of 2006 I started planning a Conference for Summer of 2007. The client told me that the event had to be in Omaha, and the dates were firm. Omaha was already committed to another large group – there were no rooms. This group had not consider Council Bluffs, but knowing the area – I felt the MAC and the Council Bluffs Hotel and Hospitality community would be the perfect solution for the meeting. The Council Bluffs CVB and the staff of the MAC – helped me sell Council Bluffs as a destination that would host a meeting for 1000 attendees under one roof, (including feeding all the attendees), house half of the attendees with in a short drive of the venue and allow people easy access to some of the best attractions in the area. Our team received rave reviews about the venue and the outcome of the meeting.”

Always seems to take a considerable amount of time just to unpack, regroup, and catch up on emails when returning from a conference like this…but I want to at least send this quick email to thank you for all of your efforts and your volunteers in making this an extremely successful Downtown Summit. You have been incredible…..working with so many venues and the nuances associated with these logistics was not an easy undertaking on your part. I do appreciate your cooperation and efforts in orchestrating a smoothly run conference. The persons associated with Bayliss Park Hall, the museum, Temple and library were extremely helpful and gracious and definitely added to the quality of the conference.
Webster's Dictionary definition of "Team"--n. two or more oxen, horses, or other beasts of burden harnessed together working for common purpose. Don't know if that really describes this partnership fully but am sure in certain components of the preparation and implementation, it comes close…...
