Automated Concepts, Inc. is a robotics systems integrator and was named the Council Bluffs/Omaha metro area's 13th fastest growing company. Automated Concepts provides solutions for the automation of manufacturing processes for many Fortune 500 companies, including the areas of agricultural equipment, heavy construction equipment, 2nd and 3rd tier automotive manufacturing and the textile industries.

Due to its tremendous growth, Automated Concepts had outgrown their current Council Bluffs location and began looking for a new site to build a larger building. The company considered locations across the metro and ultimately chose a 10-acre site in the MidAmerican Commerce Park.

According to Brian Turner, General Manager of Automated Concepts, several factors influenced the company's decision to expand in Council Bluffs. One was the location's close proximity to Eppley Airfield in Omaha, which was very convenient for bringing clients to their facility. Another was the community's willingness to work with and support the company as it continues to grow.

Working through the Pottawattamie County Growth Alliance and the City of Council Bluffs, Automated Concepts was able to receive both Enterprise Zone and Community Economic Betterment Account (CEBA) benefits to assist the expansion. The Enterprise Zone Program provided a 10% capital investment tax credit, a 3-year 100% property tax abatement, a refund of sales taxes, an increased R&D credit and increased job training benefits. Through the CEBA program, they received a combination forgivable and 0% interest loan.
