Tyson Foods | Griffin Pipe Products, Inc.

Growing consumer demand for more convenient meat products, prompted IBP Foods Co., now part of Tyson Foods, to search for a site to build a new cooked meats plant under the company's Thomas E. Wilson™ consumer brand name. After reviewing a number of sites in different states, IBP cited several reasons for choosing a Council Bluffs location, including the company's positive relationship with the community, availability of labor and excellent access to interstate transportation.

To assist IBP Foods in the location of its 85,000-square-foot, $25 million facility, the Alliance served as a liaison with MidAmerican Energy in the relocation of high-capacity, overhead power lines and in the application to the city for a sliding-scale, 5-year property tax abatement. The new facility currently employs 250 people.
