POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: 4PLUS PROGRAM SCHOOL ASSISTANT

For the 4PLUS program, learning involves more than books and paper. Our School Assistants work with young adults who are blind and visually impaired by providing direct support in a wide range of activities that encourage a more independent lifestyle. Under the supervision of an assigned faculty member, the School Assistant will interact with students individually and in groups to provide on-the-job training, support the development of daily living skills, and document student progress.

School Assistants must have a high school diploma or GED, and preferably possess an Iowa Paraeducator Generalist Certificate.
Previous experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired and the willingness to learn braille is strongly preferred.
Some weekends or evenings may be required if supporting students for job coaching. Support may also be provided to Iowa School for the Deaf (ISD) programs, as needed.

Pay: $15.17/hr

Schedule: school year only; Monday-Friday
