Position Title:      Crossing Guard

Calendar:     180 Day

Position Type:      Standard Hourly

SUMMARY

The Crossing Guard is responsible for fulfilling the mission of Council Bluffs Community School District (CBCSD) by ensuring the safety of children during appointed times while crossing traffic areas. This position includes checking for safety of grounds/parking lots, setting up cones and directional signs, directing traffic, and crossing students.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Essential duties must be performed on site. Other duties may be assigned.  

• Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.

• Assists children to safely cross the street.

• Records license plate numbers of any vehicles found violating the safety of the students.

• Reports violators to proper authorities.

• Assists in monitoring unsafe behavior of students.

• Assists students with mobility needs, as required.

• Coordinates and discusses traffic control points and routing plans with school and police authorities.

• Comprehends basic safety procedures and practices relevant to crossing guards.

• Works outdoors in all weather conditions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

• In-depth understanding of traffic signals, traffic patterns, and behavior
