POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Custodian
Qualifications/Skills:
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions; communicate effectively with others
• Knowledge of proper bending and lifting techniques and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as such as cleaning, lifting furniture, emptying trash receptacles,
scrubbing, climbing up and down ladders, etc.
• Ability to work in a variety of environments including crowded public areas, and high/low temperature
areas.
• Knowledge of the safe use of chemical cleaning agents and possible hazards relating to environmental
sanitation.
• All staff are expected to reach the designated level of sign language proficiency within the time frame of
the school's sign language policy.

Duties:
• Performs cleaning throughout building, including floors (vacuuming, shampooing, sweeping, mopping,
stripping, scrubbing, waxing, buffing), bathroom fixtures, light fixtures (including replacing light bulbs),
windows, ceilings, walls. Use of a ladder up to 12 feet in height may be required
• Makes beds, handles clean and soiled linens. Cleans and disinfects bedroom furniture. Moves furniture,
draperies, rugs for cleaning. Reports needed repairs
• Refills containers for soap, bathroom tissue, paper towels, etc. Collects and empties trash from
receptacles.
• Delivers supplies to various areas.
• Locks/unlocks doors as required.
• Assists in unloading trucks, unpacking, assembling, and moving equipment and furniture.
• Performs duties in the immediate exterior of the building such as sweeping sidewalks, snow and ice
removal at entrances, cleaning debris from grounds and window wells.
• Maintains inventory of custodial supplies, and keeps/prepares other records and reports as directed.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 am-3:00 pm
Pay/Benefits: starts at $13.89/hr; health and dental insurance, retirement plan, flex spending accounts,
