Iowa Western’s Student Services Division fosters learning environments that engage and empower our students to grow and develop.
The Residence Life Coordinator is directly responsible for the total administration of his/her assigned community and building, including facility programming, community development, Resident Assistant supervision, residential policy violations, safety and security, and all administrative duties related to his/her assigned facility.
The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for approximately 425 residents.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required.
Ability to supervise and manage staff.
Ability to balance empathy with being firm in decisions.
Ability to exercise superior judgment and discretion.
Experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disabled backgrounds of community college students.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a professional staff member or student staff member in a Residence Life department and experience that demonstrates the ability to respond appropriately and effectively to crisis situations is preferred.
Physical Demands: Significant amount of standing and walking on campus and in housing facilities.
Include occasional lifting of 10 pounds, the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment, ability to work with diverse populations, While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and use a phone, and some travel, by vehicle may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, and working with minimal supervision, a high degree of problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, organizational skills, and high degree of inter-personal skills preferred. Hiring process includes ability to pass a background check, a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record.
