  • Field Service Engineer

    As a Field Service Engineer you will coordinate, plan, organize, integrate and complete Engineering projects within areas of assigned responsibility. Responsible for performing functions to design or develop new or existing equipment for external customers. Under direction, work from requirements, request or instruction to design and develop new components or redesign existing components to improve customer’s equipment, processes, quality and product performance.

    Essential Duties:

    • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals
    • Plan, organize and schedule all phases of Field Service project work aligned with customer contract; report and document project progress and findings to appropriate parties
    • Analyze feasibility of designs considering costs, time limitations, planning, and other technical factors
    • Manage expenditures within limitations of project budget
    • Assist internal and external customers with obtaining quotes and bids from external vendors
    • Coordinate with OEM’s on the installation, training, set-up and operation of new prototypes or updated designs
    • Manage filling machine contracts to ensure external customer satisfaction
    • Install and retrieve filling equipment onsite at external customer locations
    • Train external customers on the proper set-up and operation of filling equipment
    • Troubleshoot external customer performance issues of our product in their filling machines
    • Manage filling machine rebuilds and maintain inventory
    • Maintain spare parts inventory for filling machines
    • Support production floor and Project Managers in project work & installations
    • Work closely with internal and external customers and departments (i.e. Production, Maintenance, Safety, QA, and OEM’s) on equipment modifications, new equipment installations and R&D projects
    • Communicate and coordinate efforts of front-line employees, maintenance personnel, production supervisors and equipment vendors
    • Monitor, document and report product issues to appropriate parties
    • Report food safety problems to management
    • Travel

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired.
    • Working knowledge of a variety of Engineering and business software, to include AutoCad.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing procedures and processes preferably in plastics industry and Quality Assurance SQF Level-3.
    • Capability to solve complex problems, utilizing strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
    • Superior organizational skills and the ability to assemble resources needed to orchestrate multiple projects/activities to accomplish goals
    • Ability to model a collaborative leadership style with the ability to build partnerships and influence others into action
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and consultative approach; tactful in dealing with people at all levels
    • Strong sense of urgency, self-motivated and positive
    • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
    • Ability to actively lead change initiatives
    • Maintain the utmost level of confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information
    • Detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as percentage, rate per time, etc
    • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and containing abstract and concrete variables
    • Working knowledge of Engineering and business software, including AutoCad
    • Must be able to travel domestically up to 50% of the time
