  • Behavioral Health Therapist

    Position
    The Behavioral Health Therapist will be responsible for providing clinical services either in person or via
    telehealth to a wide range of individuals struggling with mental health, substance abuse and behavioral issues, both
    in the Crossroads program and the community.
    Essential Duties
    This position includes, but is not limited to, the following essential functions:
    • Contributes to Crossroads mission, vision, and values by way of work product and professional behavior
    with both internal and external consumers
    • Adheres to the requirements and regulations as set forth by the Iowa Department of State Health
    Services and Iowa State Board of Examiners based on clinical licensure
    • Maintains professional licensure as a mental health provider in good standing based on licensing
    requirements
    • Maintains all training requirements for licensure and for Crossroads
    • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and Behavioral Health Policies and Procedures
    • Attends staff/agency meetings and trainings as required
    • Adheres to all current federal & state laws, as well as Crossroads Policies and Procedures, including the
    safeguarding of confidential healthcare information and compliance with the Health Insurance
    Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA)
    • Maintains all client documentation in the electronic record
    • Establishes relationships and communicates with clients, family members, and staff
    • Assists the Behavioral Health Director with program implementation
    • Makes recommendations for program improvements
    • Assists the Behavioral Health Director and other professionals in short and long-term planning for the
    Behavioral Health program
    • Reports to the Behavioral Health Director (or other administrative team members) as necessary
    regarding support services, personnel issues, fiscal considerations, etc.
    • Completes initial diagnostic assessments on all clients assigned to determine treatment needs, as well as
    conducts ongoing assessments to determine when clinical goals have been achieved and service delivery
    is no longer indicated
    • Develops initial treatment plans and updates treatment plans to include clinical
    interventions/objectives/goals that are observable and measurable
    • Provides in-person or telehealth therapy sessions to individuals, family, or groups as clinically indicated
    • Provides support and crisis management services as needed or as requested by supervisor
    • Completes other duties as directed by the Director
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of the treatment issues concerning children, adolescents, adults, and
    families
    • Ability to support the agency's culture, growth, and success through communication, accountability, and
    positivity
    • Ability to be clear headed and decisive based on the scope of the position
    • Ability to work efficiently and effectively both individually and as part of a professional team
    • Ability to appropriately accept feedback through the supervision process - thus displaying the

    • Competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, the Internet, and other software applications
    • Effective oral/written communication and organizational skills
    Physical Demands
    These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to
    successfully perform the essential functions of the Behavioral Health Therapist’s job. Reasonable

    While performing the responsibilities of the Behavioral Health Therapist’s job, the employee is required to talk
    and hear and be fluent in the English language. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and
    fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand,
    walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities
    required by this job include close vision.
    Working Conditions
    Working conditions are normal for an office and telehealth environment. The noise level in the work
    environment is usually quiet to moderate. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work and the
    ability to remain on-call and available to provide staff support in event of emergencies.
    The employee must be able to travel between locations in Iowa, and occasionally attend seminars which may
    require overnight stay.
    Requirements/Qualifications
    • Prefer a Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy
    Business, Healthcare, or related field but will consider a Bachelors in a social service field with current
    CADC certification or other certification that would allow them to provide Substance Use Disorder
    and/or Mental Health services in the State of Iowa.
    • Iowa licensed or certified behavioral health professional, such as a psychologist, psychiatrist, social
    worker, psychiatric nurse, marriage and family therapist, mental health counselor or CADC
    • Experience in providing individual, group and Family therapy. Prefer 2 years’ experience with some
    management experience.
    • Valid Chauffeur's license and a driving record that is acceptable to Crossroads of Western
    Iowa's auto insurance company.
