Machine Operator - 2nd Shift

How would you contribute?
As a Machine Operator you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite.  This role is responsible for Set up and operating high-speed injection molding machines and robots.   
 
Essential Duties:

• Ability to work 2:30pm - 11:00pm
• Perform a daily “Beginning of Shift” audit of assigned area with outgoing Molding Specialist.
• Perform machine start-up and shut down to required procedures.
• Operates and has ability to teach / train aspects of robotics and develops skills in basic components of repair / replacement of mandrills, vacuum generators, static wires to repair and replace as needed
• Operates and has ability to teach / train basic vision skills in terms of edit and programing of new jobs.
• Understands all basic aspects of vision validation / checks to ensure vision system is operating within basic parameters.
• Remove contamination from tip areas of molds to required procedures.  Remove and replace tips to required procedures.
• Knows product acceptability after completion of machine adjustments and/or color changes.
• Review production schedule, make color, material and label changes during shift
• Review and perform with area supervisor and/or quality assurance technicians the floor inspection and diameter size check reports and follow up on items needing technical corrections.
• Perform quality inspections and document product quality and color shades to assure product is within specifications. 
• Communicate with quality auditors and/or Supervisors regarding questionable product and make timely adjustments.
• Helps monitor and continually works on reducing scrap on targeted machines
• Monitor cycle times to required procedures.
• Responsible for quality, scrap and machine efficiency in assigned area.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping expectations, report potential machine or work hazards, respond immediately to emergency machine problems, and ensure the safety of co-workers within designated work area.
• Work closely with Mold Process Techs, Engineering, Maintenance and Management on new machines, mold, materials, processes and procedures.
• Continually develops skills in robotics, labeling, vision and process; document changes made to processes
• Communicate with other shifts about machine, robot and/or quality problems:
• Work with Technical Support in robotic operations
• Enters basic information into computer.  Maintains accurate computer logs.
• Understands label computer system and checks for change information
• Basic vision skills in terms of edit and programing of new jobs, understand basic aspects of vision validation / checks to ensure vision system is operating within basic parameters.
• Operate and fill robot magazine with schedule labels
• Retrieve scheduled labels from storage area
• Maintains accurate label inventories that will be returning to storage
• Meet safety and housekeeping expectations.
• Maintains company attendance standards.
• Reports food safety concerns to management.

• Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school;
• Or two - three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.  Ability to write routine reports in English.  Ability to speak effectively with company employees and supervisors in English.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
