    PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

    The Development Coordinator assists the Chief Development Officer and the Development Associate in conducting a comprehensive development program and communication initiatives.  This person is responsible for the daily operations of the development program, including the donor database, entering gifts, preparing acknowledgment letters, creating progress reports, working with volunteers, and communicating with donors. 

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Coordinate all aspects of fundraising events and activities planning to execution.
    2. Establish a realistic budget for events and account for anticipated fundraising outcomes.
    3. Assist and write grant proposals, foundation, and corporate funding requests.
    4. Foster positive relationships with current and potential business partners.
    5. Use advertisement and marketing to promote fundraising events using flyers and digital marketing outreach.
    6. Assume full responsibility for various fundraising efforts including product sales, obtaining items for sale in auctions and acquiring donations.
    7. Assist in writing grant proposals and developing event opportunities.
    8. Research and identify prospective new donors and proactively initiate sponsorship and funding.
    9. Assist in helping management in the development of fundraising goals and works to achieve and surpass these goals.
       

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    1. Bachelor’s degree in public administration, communications, non-profit management or related field.
    2. 2-5 years of experience working in fundraising or project organization.
    3. 2-5 years of experience planning large-scale events and fundraisers.
    4. Ability to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficiently.
    5. Professional written and interpersonal skills are essential when communicating with customers and sponsors.
    6. Ability to generate interest in the organization or program and reach out to appropriate business partners.
    7. Experience working with a diverse team and promoting a positive brand image.
    8. Knowledge of nonprofit organizations and fundraising events.
    9. Excellent computer skills with expertise in Word and Excel.
    10. Strong database management skills. Can create and implement Client Relationship Management (CRM) software – i.e. Bloomerang desired.
    11. Strong self-starter with organizational and time management skills.
    12. Detail-oriented, with strong attention to follow-through.
    13. Ability to work collaboratively with others.
    14. Strong knowledge of the community and resources for non-profits. 
    15. Must be responsible, dependable, and display the highest level of integrity.
