• Iowa West Sports Plex Facility Manager


    Under the direction of the Council Bluffs Soccer Club (CBSC) Board of Directors and under the direct supervision of Executive Director, the Iowa West Sports Plex Facility Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the indoor complex as a service to area youth and families. This position is responsible for all scheduling, staffing and direct facility management.


    Includes but are not limited to the following:

    Technical Programming

    Coordinate and supervise the operations of the Iowa West Sports Plex
    Maintain usage schedules for CBSC programming and external partners including free and discounted community usage time

    Organize youth and adult leagues to optimize usage of facility

    Research, select and train on facility management software systems

    In partnership with the ED, develop relationships for revenue generation through rentals and tournaments

    Work closely with Director of Coaching for CBSC team training needs across all programs

    Directly supervises all professional and volunteer staff and ensure all staff represent CBSC according to our Core Values. 

    Enforce club and facility policies and procedures

    Community Engagement

    Supports the Club for program scheduling, communication, marketing and other tasks as required for an efficient operation of all facility activities.

    Become a vital and engaged part of the Council Bluffs community and maintain professional relationships with business and sport community.

    Confers with Facility Advisory Board, staff, leagues, individuals, groups and committees to implement and extend CBSC’s vision, goals, programs, and services.

    Assist in obtaining corporate alliances, sponsorships, grants and fulfills existing agreements.


    Implements and contributes continuous constructive enhancements to CBSC’s business plans.

    Provides information and identifies strategic issues to the ED to ensure that the club leadership has the proper information necessary for decision making.

    Interprets organization programs, policies and practices to soccer and other public and community groups.

    Advises and consults with the ED and Facility Advisory Committee to ensure quality of programs and services and effective use of resources.

    Along with ED and Treasurer develop financial goals and budget. Recognize and assess key indicators of financial health of the association throughout the year. 

    Completes periodic and annual personnel reviews for staff and provides updates to ED prior to delivery 

    Must be able to problem solve, collect and report out on data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    Must be able to travel overnight on CBSC business.

    Must be able to work a non-traditional schedule which may include evening and weekend hours.


    Directly supervises all professional and volunteer staff and ensure all staff represent CBSC according to our Core Values. Assists the ED with all financial aspects of programs including the operating budget of the facility. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training staff; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.


    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to consistently and independently meet expectations while performing each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Must have a good understanding of Council Bluffs and surrounding metro area sports community.


    Bachelor’s degree or experience equivalent; minimum 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or Business Administration preferred. Has experience in effectively managing a staff team.


    Strategic planning experience in a youth soccer environment.  Ability to facilitate and adapt strategically to changing markets and implement the vision and mission of the Board to address the growth of soccer. The Iowa West Sports Plex Facility Manager should consistently demonstrate the following behaviors:  trust, compassion, integrity, honesty, dignity, fairness and respect.


    Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to articulate themselves using professional techniques or style.  Ability to read, write and interpret document on policies and procedures. Ability to explain to Council Bluffs community procedures for enrolling in various programs. Ability to understand, use and train on various computer software and hardware system and databases. Ability to use the internet and manage all social/communication sites. Bilingual in Spanish beneficial.


    Must be able to pass a background check and be bonded and eligible to work in the United States.  All staff must complete SafeSport and concussion training.


    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be able to perform duties including standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, reaching, lifting and climbing stairs.
