About Us

Family Housing Advisory Services’ (FHAS) mission is to improve housing opportunities and eliminate poverty. FHAS promotes equity in the metropolitan statistical community by addressing the housing and economic disparities that predominantly afflict vulnerable populations and those with low incomes.

FHAS' goals are to eliminate poverty, stabilize families and help people reach a new version of themselves where they are financially thriving, building wealth and on track to leave a new legacy for their children who are also thriving. To accomplish these organizational aims, FHAS maintains an array of services and programs that operate independently and interconnectedly to provide varying levels of support given the complex nature of housing and financial issues faced by clients.

Tenant Services provides education and counseling and rent and utility assistance (as available) to help renters stabilize the home and family. Financial Education helps develop financial stability through credit report review and financial coaching, as well as matched-savings programs designed to secure wealth building assets (including home). Homeowner Services help low-income and disadvantaged populations convert their monthly housing payment to achieve the dream of homeownership through homebuyer education and counseling. A Fair Housing Center that provides professional support for discrimination. And the Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition that helps people access earned income credits that lift people above poverty in the largest poverty-reduction program in the United States.
