The Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce has been conducting talent surveys with business members. They have reported back that one of the top barriers their works have is child care. So, with this information, we started working with the Iowa Women’s Foundation to address the child care crisis facing our community. The Child Care Collaborative is comprised of six committees focused on different challenges with our local child care. One of the committees formed is focusing on building and expanding. The CB Chamber would like to share information about the Investing in Iowa’s Child Care (IICC) funding program provided by the Department of Human Services. These funds are one vehicle to start to address the challenges facing our local community.
The IICC is a funding program intended to increase availability of child care throughout the State. The program is administered by Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) with funds from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021. Funding is available for programs that are licensed or registered by DHS or are seeking to be licensed or registered by DHS. There are three types of funding available:
