Join Us in Keeping Council Bluffs Beautiful

Adopt-A-Street (AAS) is a community partnership program that brings together local organizations and residents to help keep our streets clean and beautiful. This collaborative effort not only enhances the appearance of our city but also provides participants with meaningful opportunities for teamwork, community engagement, and service hours—a true win-win for Council Bluffs.

How it Works

• Adopt: You agree to sponsor / clean a specific stretch of street (see our list of available streets) for 4 years.

• Clean: Perform litter removal 2–3 times per year, on a schedule that works for you.

** We do encourage you to coordinate one of those times with Clean Sweep insert link in May.

• Supplies: We provide all necessary materials—safety vests, gloves, trash bags, and grabbers. Solid Waste will pick up the trash bags and any other items.

• Get Recognized: A sign with your name or organization will appear on signage installed along your adopted street and is listed on our site.

Who Can Participate

• Individuals, families, businesses, schools, churches, civic groups, non-profits, and other do gooders.

• Anyone with a passion for community pride is welcome!

Benefits

• Helps keep our community clean and attractive

• Promotes civic pride and volunteerism

• Offers service or volunteer hours for groups

• Reduces overall litter by increasing awareness and responsibility

How to Adopt

• Submit Agreement: insert link

• Submit Fee: One time $300 fee

• Review: Once approved, you’ll receive your street assignment, we will install signage with your sponsor name and add you to the list of sponsors (below)

Before each clean up

• Each participate must sign the Volunteer Liability and Release

• Review the Clean Up Day Instructions and Safety Guidelines

Photos

• Participating groups are encouraged to take photos of their group. When emailed to the Chamber, they may be used to promote the Adopt a Street program. Email to lindsey@councilbluffsiowa.com
