Workforce development is an economic development approach that attempts to enhance a region's economic stability and prosperity by focusing on people rather than businesses. In an effort to create a competitive workforce advantage in our community, the Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce continues to expand its strategic workforce efforts.
Iowa Workforce and the Economy
The Workforce Needs Assessment Survey is conducted annually by Iowa Workforce Development. Employers provide information regarding both their current level of employment and their current and expected job vacancies.
Through a survey conducted by Iowa Workforce Development employers across Iowa are asked to provide information regarding benefits they currently offer their full-time and part-time employees.
The purpose of this Laborshed analysis is to measure the availability and characteristics of workers within the region based on geographic principles. The Laborshed data assists local development officials in their facilitation of industry expansion and recruitment and their service to existing industry in the area.
